Read Radically
Hand-lettering
I LOVE reading and over the year as I’ve I dog-eared, annotated, and housed a growing collection of books on my overcrowded shelves, I’ve realized that they’re crazy powerful. The more we read, the more we learn, the more our perspectives and world views expand, the more we’re able to imagine better lives and futures for ourselves and our communities. Reading is actually kind of radical if you think about it and has the potential to plant the seeds for rebellions, big and small. (And I think we could all use a little more rebel in our lives these days.)
Inspired by this realization, I came up with this phrase* and turned it into my go-to tote for bookstore perusing and rabble rousing. For this piece I hand-lettered a playful yet sophisticated script that I paired with a gutsy red drop shadow for a look that is bold, approachable, and a bit whimsical.
*No Chat GBT or prompting was involved in the creative writing process for this piece — I used my own brain cells to come up with this rebellious, alliterated phrase.
**The muralist in me is dying to paint this in someone’s personal book nook or small, local bookstore. If that someone is you, send me a message on my mural or contact page so we can make it happen!
